Lights, camera, cooking! Our Baking & Cooking at the Movies Camp was a blockbuster hit with our crew of young chefs. Over four fun-filled days, campers got to mix, knead, chop, and taste their way through a selection of movie-inspired recipes!
To kick off the first day, each team picked a name and decorated the butcher paper covering their tables. Then they jumped right into baking Thumper’s Thumbprint Cookies inspired by the movie Bambi.
On Day 2, campers prepared their own pizzas for lunch with our Homemade Pizza Rough recipe. Then they learned safe food handling techniques when working with raw meat to make Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs.
We always love to turn up the fun with games, challenges, and dance parties! Day 3 brought an epic dance break with campers showing off their moves to Cotton Eyed Joe and the ChaCha Slide. Then they competed in a smell-identification challenge and timed egg separating. These young chefs also learned a technique for quickly peeling garlic and had fun crushing Oreos for The Grey Stuff from Beauty & the Beast. Spoiler alert: it’s delicious!
On the final day, campers rolled up their sleeves to knead dough for Aladdin’s Stolen Baguette. As the grand finale of their camp experience, each child brought home a meal for their family to enjoy, featuring recipes they made throughout the week.
There’s something incredibly special about watching kids build confidence in the kitchen, work together as a team, and try new things—all while having a blast! We’re so proud of these young chefs!
