Kids Summer Camp
A creative experience & a whole lot of fun!
Inspire imagination & learn new skills
Hewitt Oaks Summer Camps are sure to be a highlight of your child’s summer! We teach basic culinary and creative skills to boys and girls, ages 7-12, who have completed 1st grade or beyond. Kids work in small teams to cook the day’s recipes in a positive, Christ-centered atmosphere bursting with an energetic & empowering vibe. Each week we feature a different camp theme, so your child can choose the most interesting topic or join us for all the camps to learn a whole new set of recipes!
Cooking, creativity, and design is what we LOVE to do!
They’re fun and valuable life skills that are getting harder to come by. We want to inspire outside-the-box thinking for kids to explore artistic expression in new ways. Our camps are designed for girls AND boys — rest assured that BOTH will have a blast!
We know that “real food” is really good – it tastes delicious and we need it for strong, healthy bodies and brains. We have seen that the best way to get kids loving all things food is to get them in the kitchen measuring, mixing, chopping, touching, smelling and tasting. We believe in the power of hospitality and community — real change happens one bite at a time.Camp Curriculum & Objectives
- How to be safe in the kitchen, including hand and workspace sanitizing, proper food handling, including how to wash food, knife safety, and temperature danger zone.
- How to read and follow a recipe.
- How to arrange the kitchen workplace so that all the items needed for the recipe are located and placed nearby (mise en place).
- How to accurately measure ingredients using measuring cups, measuring spoons, and kitchen scales.

- They learn about the chemistry involved in cooking.
- World cultures and geography are brought to life in a fun, contextual way while preparing recipes.

FAQs
Who will be teaching and supervising the sessions?
Do kids need baking or cooking experience to take any of these classes?
Not at all! We welcome kids of all skill levels. In some cases, we’ll separate kids into two age groups as needed (7-9 years and 10-12 years) to keep the class moving at a pace that’s right for each age range so that all children have a great experience!
What should students wear each day?
Students can wear comfortable clothes. Because we will be working in the kitchen, closed toe shoes are required. An apron will be provided on the first day of camp for each child.
What should campers bring each day?
Do you offer refunds?
What if I have other questions?
